Richard Berthelot

Richard Berthelot is a versatile individual with a diverse background, starting his career as a soccer player and later becoming a coach at different levels. After retiring from soccer, he pursued a path in law enforcement and served the St. Petersburg Police Department for 27 years. Throughout his tenure, Richard took on various roles, including patrol, community policing, SWAT, and 18 years as a School Resource Officer at a major high school. Alongside his law enforcement career, he owned and operated a retail furniture store, Badcock and More Home Furnishing, for seven years in St. Petersburg.

Driven by a passion for making a positive impact on others' lives, Richard founded Bystenia Services Inc. in 2014, with a mission to provide Optimal Care and Empower Lives, particularly for persons with disabilities. Through Supported Employment services, he finds immense joy in helping individuals discover perfect employment opportunities that empower them to thrive.

Richard's commitment to community safety extends to providing emergency management training to elementary schools and adult training centers in St. Petersburg. He also contributes as an adjunct instructor at St. Pete College, nurturing aspiring law enforcement professionals.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Richard actively contributes to the community as the President of the Pinellas Soccer Officials Association, fostering fair play and sportsmanship. Additionally, his advocacy for persons with disabilities extends to serving as an APSE Board Member, championing their rights and opportunities for the past four years.

Throughout his journey, Richard remains grounded and deeply humbled by the opportunities to serve others. With a genuine passion for community service and a desire to empower those around him, he continues to strive for positive change and create a meaningful impact in the lives of others.
